Many products claim the content of packaging is recycled, but this is currently very difficult to prove – Loop Certified has developed a certification model which verifies the recycled content of any product or packaging, which due to the use of nationally accredited certification bodies for auditing, is fully independent and traceable.
The EU has adopted the Green Claims Directive, yet no accredited standard currently exists for companies to certify themselves in compliance with this directive. Loop Certification and Accelerate Estonia are looking into how it might be possible to pursue the development and registration of a new certification standard in Estonia, building local expertise and aligning with EU and potentially ISO standards to position itself as a leader in green certification.
