Triumf Health

Pipeline for mental health solutions market access

Health Finished

During this project the Accelerate Estonia program focused on solving global wicked problems, rather than addressing regulatory barriers.

Introduction

The rise in mental health challenges, exacerbated by the pandemic, has intensified the need for greater support systems. Triumf Health aims to improve access to digital mental health solutions to meet this urgent demand.

Problem

The lengthy journey to market for new mental health solutions delays critical support for those in need. A lack of streamlined market entry support creates inconsistencies in validation and certification, making both individuals and healthcare providers hesitant to use unproven solutions.

Triumf Health’s research highlights the state’s role in testing health technologies; without established validation methods, doctors lack the confidence to recommend these solutions. Additionally, while the government invests significantly in mental health initiatives, the state and doctors hesitate to endorse specific tools without standardized testing protocols, which could provide the necessary “stamp of approval” for practitioners.

Solution

Triumf Health is developing a comprehensive process pipeline for digital mental health solutions, including validation and testing tools to accelerate their market entry. The company is leading the creation of a cross-institutional pipeline for certification, which will ensure that new solutions are validated, transparent, and meet expert standards.

By proposing a lean evaluation format, Triumf Health aims to reduce the time and resources required for initial testing through optimized just-in-time adaptive interventions, patient-reported outcomes, and other self-reported measures. This streamlined approach will make the development process more efficient while maintaining high standards.

End Goal

Estonia faces a mental health crisis due to a shortage of necessary resources. By establishing a robust process pipeline in Estonia, Triumf Health aims to ensure that evidence-based, high-quality digital mental health solutions, aligned with EU and global standards, can enter the market more quickly and reach those in need.

Moreover, this pipeline will offer standardized evaluation formats for all mental health innovators and approval bodies, ensuring consistent quality. This process could eventually be exported to other countries, providing a global model for faster and more reliable market access for mental health solutions.

Outcome

The project developed a concept for the national validation of digital mental health solutions and their market access.

The team proposed various protocols for validating innovations aimed at supporting mental health and established a clear pipeline with defined steps and strategies for innovators and public sector evaluators. By engaging multiple innovations during the testing phase, the team refined the pipeline to meet the needs of both the public and private sectors.
